Sydney Special Guest Screening + Q&A
Piece of Cake

2015 JFF - Film - Piece of Cake 1

Following the film screening on Saturday, 7 November, Director Tomorowo Taguchi will discuss the film in a Q&A session in the cinema. Piece of Cake marks the director’s third feature film. However, he is also a veteran actor who debuted in a starring role with cult favourite Tetsuo: The Iron Man and appeared in films such as Gantz, A Drop of the Grapevine, and Kabukicho Love Hotel.

On Monday evening, 9 November we will be joined by both Director Taguchi and lead actor Mikako Tabe for the special guest Q&A after the film screening in the cinema. Mikako has appeared in various films such as From Me To You (Kimi ni Todoke) and Liar Game: Reborn. She also plays one of the main characters in Midnight Diner screening in Sydney and Melbourne at this year’s JFF.

The Q&A session will be conducted in English and Japanese. There will be a bilingual interpreter.

Melbourne Special Guest Screening + Q&A
Fires on the Plain

JFF 2015 - Film - Fires on the Plain 2

Director-actor-producer Shinya Tsukamoto will be joining us for a special guest Q&A session in Melbourne on 28 and 29 November at ACMI.

Shinya is popularly known for directing the Tetsuo trilogy and acting in films like Ichi the Killer. The multi-hyphenated gentleman has been making the rounds in the festival circuit recently with his bold feature, Fires on the Plain. Independently produced, written, directed—and even starred in—by himself, this is one film that truly pushes boundaries and sets the bar higher with every scene.

The Q&A session will be conducted in English and Japanese. There will be a bilingual interpreter.
