What happens when a cousin you never liked barges back into your life?
Serious and straight-laced Tetsuko (Yo Yoshida) is a talented lawyer whose job to help the desperate and the needy runs in stark contrast to her coldness when interacting with other people on a daily basis. Her cousin Natsuko (Yoshino Kimura) is the complete opposite: impulsive, charismatic, and committed to making the most out of life.
Their worlds collide when Natsuko suddenly appears out of the blue to ask for Tetsuko’s aid in a legal dispute with a jilted ex-boyfriend. Despite Tetsuko’s reluctance, she is invariably drawn into her cousin’s affairs and finds herself thrown headlong into the chaos that follows Natsuko wherever she goes.
In her directorial debut, Hitomi Kuroki balances poignant insights into the complexity of human relationships with moments of heart-warming humour.
