Misako is a passionate writer who composes audio guides of films made for the visually impaired. At a test screening of her latest project, she meets Nakamori, a once celebrated photographer who is slowly losing his eyesight.

Only partially impaired, Nakamori criticises Misako’s audio guides as overly subjective. Hit by criticism, Misako is unable to let go of Nakamori’s comments. When she discovers his photographic works, she becomes increasingly curious about the man behind the lens.

Despite a conflicted first encounter, the two are drawn to each other. Nakamori’s photographs brings Misako back to her past, while Misako’s company anchors Nakamori to the reality of the present. Together, they will learn to see a radiant world invisible to the naked eye.

Critically acclaimed director Naomi Kawase’s new work is a sensitive depiction of fragility and loneliness. Gently tackling experiences of loss and acceptance, it is a hopeful and light-filled film that reminds us of beauty in our surroundings.
