Totalitarian tech triage!
It’s 2030 and medical AI ‘Nozomi’ benevolently protects the welfare of the citizens. With a glitch in the system, lives are precariously hanging in the balance, and the dangers of human error are brought into the spotlight.
After co-creating the AI system, Kiryū’s wife Nozomi passed away before her namesake was officially implemented. Kiryū (Takao Ōsawa) now lives reclusively overseas with his young daughter, until he is beckoned back to Japan to receive an award from the Prime Minister.
However, his warm reception sours when the god-like AI malfunctions at the expense of human life, and the IT prodigy becomes a cyber-terrorist suspect on the run. With the totalitarian tech playing triage with the population, and the genius investigator Sakuraba heading the National Police Agency hot on his tail, Kiryū needs to code more than a getaway plan to restore order.
This tech nightmare from director Yū Irie (Memoirs of a Murderer, JFF 2017; The Sun, JFF 2016) packs tense chase scenes and slick effects into a Black Mirror-esque action suspense.
