FAQS and Covid Safety

The Japanese Film Festival is proud to bring the JFF 2021 program to its Australia-wide audience. In consideration of the current ever-changing and uncertain circumstances, we are working together and asking for your support to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The safety of our audiences, guests, volunteers and staff is The Japanese Film Festival’s priority.

Please note that restrictions in place at the time of ticket purchase may not be the same as when the Festival takes place and are different for each city. We encourage all patrons to check the venue website closer to the session time to review the updated guidance concerning health and safety protocols.

According to the city, please ensure you have downloaded the applicable Check-in app and logged in in advance to avoid delays and reduce queueing. If you do not have a smartphone, cinema staff will assist you and collect your details on arrival.

When attending a screening session:

In order to provide a safe and comfortable environment for everyone we ask that the audience closely follow the relevant State Government health guidelines and practice good hand hygiene.

Please don’t visit any cinema venues:

  • If you feel unwell, have experienced any cold or flu-like symptoms in the past 14 days, are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test, or have been advised that you should be isolating or quarantining.
  • If any of the above apply, contact us to exchange your booking if you need to – our venues have updated their ticket exchange and returns policy to accommodate the evolving circumstances.

The Japanese Film Festival is collaborating with our venue partners to provide a covid-safe venue making sure the following actions are taken:

  • Hand-sanitiser to be available at every point of service and check in desks.
  • Increased contact surface cleaning.
  • Staggered sessions to reduce foyer congestion between screenings.
  • When applicable, all JFF staff and volunteers attending the venue will have received both doses of one of the vaccines recognised by Australian Government Health guidelines.
