JFF Plus: Online Festival 2020 features the broadest Japanese Film Festival program yet, from classic films to 2020’s latest hits, streaming online from 4-13 December for free. We’ve teamed up with Japan at Home to share recipes based on JFF Plus films so you can take your at-home watching experience to the next level!
In Café Funiculi Funicula, experience a quaint Japanese cafe with a magical twist: depending on where you sit, can take you back to a chosen moment in the past! But if you don’t return before your coffee turns cold, you’ll be stuck as a ghost bound to your cafe seat forever.
Upon hearing this rumour, a young woman goes to the cafe to try to talk once again with her childhood friend, who left for the US after they had a fight. There, she meets Tokita Kazu (Kasumi Arimura), who works at the cafe, and four miracles occur there.
One dish that screams “Japanese cafe” is the humble egg salad sandwich! Great for afternoon tea or an evening snack, egg salad sandwiches are easy to make and taste great.
Let’s try making one with Japanese shokupan bread and mayonnaise! You can find these ingredients and more at Japan at Home friendly certified Japanese food supporter shops.
