Calling all cosplayers! Share your love for Japanese film and enter to win some awesome prizes! The official Japanese Film Festival 2019 cosplay contest is now accepting entries.
We’ve teamed up with the awesome folks at Madman Entertainment and Dr Emerald L King of La Trobe University to celebrate JFF 2019 and the amazing cosplay community in Australia. To enter to contest, send us your best cosplay of a character appearing in any film in the main JFF 2019 program. The grand prize winner will be selected by the JFF team and will receive 1 JFF double pass valid to any JFF screening in Australia, along with a weekend double pass to the 2020 Madfest event of your choice!
The runner-up will be voted on by JFF fans on our Facebook page, and will receive 1 JFF double pass valid to any JFF screening in Australia, and a 3 month subscription to Madman’s AnimeLab anime streaming service.
To enter, submit a photo of yourself cosplaying any character from the JFF 2019 program to japanesefilmfestival[at]jpf.org.au by Sunday, 6 October at 9pm AEST. The contest is open nationwide.
Make sure the subject of your email is “JFF 2019 Cosplay Contest” and that you include the name of the character you’re cosplaying and what film they’re from!
Include your name or an alias you wish to go by on Facebook
If you do not wish for your photo to be shared on Facebook for the fan-favorite vote, please notify us in your submission email
On Monday, 7 October, we will publish a gallery of all contest submissions on the JFF Facebook page. Fans will have the chance to vote for their favourite entry by liking the photo. Update: Due to the fact that 7 October is a public holiday, the gallery will be published on 8 October. The cosplay photo with the most likes on Monday, 14 October at 9pm AEST will be declared the fan-favorite! (invalid likes such as spam will be disqualified)
The winners will be announced on Tuesday, 15 October.
If you’re not sure what character to cosplay, check out the full JFF 2019 program for ideas. We’d love to see cosplay from Fly Me to the Saitama, Kakegurui, Kingdom, Detective Conan: Fist of Blue Sapphire, or Ride Your Wave, but anything from the program is fair game!
Good luck, and happy cosplaying!
