A KILLER’S CONFESSION RESURRECTS A DETECTIVE’S ANGUISH
A man identifying himself Masato Sonezaki (Tatsuya Fujiwara, Erased) suddenly emerges onto the public spotlight, confessing to a string of unsolved murders that terrorised Tokyo 22 years ago. His modus operandi: strangling victims from behind while another bears witness to the crime. Every witness is spared in order to report their ordeal to the police and media, amplifying the killer’s notoriety.
With the statue of limitations long expired, Sonezaki brazenly launches a memoir of his crimes, while sadistically taunting case detectives and surviving witnesses on the media circuit.
Sonezaki’s taunts are especially personal for lead detective Wataru Makimura (Hideaki Ito, Terraformars), having witnessed his mentor’s murder as the killer’s fifth and final victim. With no avenue for prosecution, Makimura is wracked by his failure to crack the case all those years ago. Yet despite the killer’s candid confession, a series of lingering questions leads Makimura to delve deeper in search of closure.
Witness this devious murder mystery for yourself, with evidently more twists and turns than the killer’s thick noose!
