An epic night out filled with chance encounters and strange romance
A heroine known only as The Black-Haired Girl goes down the rabbit hole for a night on the town and meets new friends who show her an unexpected side of Kyoto’s nightlife. As their night moves from tipsy to boozy, they slide into a trippy world of second-hand books, guerilla theatre-makers, and chance encounters where anything seems possible.
Meanwhile, fellow student Senpai (Gen Hoshino) is desperately searching for The Black-Haired Girl. Determined to make her acquaintance in the most “natural” way possible, Senpai engineers increasingly complicated and comically contrived situations to bump into her. Set over one endless night, Senpai and The Black-Haired Girl embark on their own solo adventures, with each challenge potentially bringing them closer to one another.
As the night deepens and challenges escalate, will fate bring the two together?
From the visionary mind of director Masaaki Yuasa (Mind Game, Adventure Time‘s “Food Chain”) comes Night is Short, Walk on Girl, a strange romantic comedy about one epic night in Kyoto. Featuring Gen Hoshino (We Married As A Job) as Senpai and Kana Hanazawa (Your Name, Psycho-pass: The Movie) as The Black-Haired Girl.
