Just how strongly can a single thread bind people’s fates together?

Screening as part of JFF Fringe 2019.

Michiko Oshitani, a woman from Shiga prefecture, near Kyoto, was found strangled to death in a Tokyo apartment belonging to a labourer named Mutsuo Koshikawa. However, police hit a brick wall when they fail to find any links between the two.

Enter Kyoichiro Kaga (Hiroshi Abe), an  unconventional detective called on to solve mysterious cases. His investigation leads him to Hiromi Asai (Nanako Matsushima), a celebrity theatre director whose glamourous world seems far removed from the case. Despite appearances, Kaga digs deeper and unearths a connection between his late mother and Mutsuo Koshikawa. Just how strongly can a single thread bind people’s fates together? Detective Kaga is about to find out.

The Crimes That Bind is the last instalment in the popular mystery series by novelist Keigo Higashino.
