A modern day romance between imperfect people.
In a city of ten million, everyone is self-absorbed in their own routines. Entranced by the glow of their smartphones, people come and go without a passing glance at their environment. In the vast Tokyo metropolis, an uneasy loneliness and isolation pervades.
Mika (Shizuka Ishibashi, Night’s Tightrope) is a nurse by day, a girls bar employee by night. She is long over the concept of love, or perhaps, she’s yet to understand it. Shinji (Sosuke Ikematsu, Seto & Utsumi) is a construction worker with a tendency to talk too much out of anxiety. He ekes out a living with other labourers, many of them immigrant workers, in the city’s pre-Olympics building boom. Blind in one eye, he becomes increasingly introspective of the isolation in the city.
In a city of ten million, somehow the two continually cross paths. Clumsily, they push each other away, only to find themselves brought together by cosmic coincidences. In spite of the perpetually sombre Tokyo night, their encounters spark a faint, but warm, glow of promise.
